Looking for plant-based milk that is easy to froth, is naturally creamy and has a sweet taste? Oat milk is your best bet!

In this post, we will show you how to make an oat milk latte at home in just a few simple steps. So, whether you are vegan, dairy-free, or just looking for a tasty new latte to try, read on for the recipe!

There are many ways to make an oat milk latte at home, but we found this to be the easiest and most foolproof method. All you need is oat milk, Belvico coffee and a coffee machine, French press or Moka pot. You don't even need a milk frother unless you already have one.

Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 1,5 cup Oat milk - if you want to go all the way and make your own, find a bonus recipe for oat milk below!

  • 4 espresso shots or 2 cups of coffee - Don't be alarmed if you don't have an espresso maker, this recipe is bullet-proof to create the best oat milk lattes with a French press or on the stovetop.

  • Optional: vanilla essence, maple syrup, or a cinnamon stick

A step-by-step guide

Make coffee

Using a coffee machine - start with brewing 4 or 2 (if you prefer your latte less strong) espresso shots using freshly ground Belvico beans

French press - brew 2 cups of Belvico coffee in your French press

Stove-top - brew 2 cups of Belvico coffee in your Moka pot

Froth the oat milk

Using a coffee machine - if you have a coffee machine with a steamer, you can use the metallic milk jug to steam the oat milk. When steaming, create a slight angle with your jug and aim for a temperature of 55C/130F. This is what baristas do!

Use a spoon to hold back the foam and pour the warm milk over the espresso shots to get that super creamy effect. Spoon out the foam on top.

Using a blender - preheat the milk on your stove-top until the temperature is about 55C/130F. Pour the milk into a blender. Start blending at a slow speed and increase until the milk becomes creamy. It usually doesn't take longer than 30 seconds. Apply the same pouring technique as described above.

Using a frother - preheat the milk on your stove-top until the temperature is about 55C/130F, froth until creamy. Apply the same pouring technique as described above.

Optional extra's

Want to go all the way? Add some vanilla essence, maple syrup or a cinnamon stick for a different flavour.

You can also make your own oat milk . All you need for 2 servings are 1/4 cup of oats, 3/4 to 1 cup of water, a pinch of salt, 1/4 of a Medjool date, a blender and a strainer or a nut bag.

Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend on high speed for about 30 sec to 1 min. Taste-test before pouring the liquid through your strainer (or nut bag) into a glass jar. Your oat milk is ready and can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days in an airtight container.

Oat milk lattes are becoming more popular in the coffee scene as a result of people living a more conscious and plant-based lifestyle. Give this recipe a try and let us know how it turned out.
